“Go your way; your son lives.” – John 4:50
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days…” – 2 Timothy 3:1
Life is full of seasons. Some are joyful, others are trying. The Bible doesn’t hide the reality that difficult times will come. In 2 Timothy 3:1–5, the Apostle Paul warns that in the last days, perilous times will emerge—times filled with selfishness, pride, rebellion, immorality, and spiritual coldness. We see this unfolding all around us: in broken homes, chaotic governments, economic instability, and personal struggles with health, finances, and relationships. These are the signs of the times.
But in John 4, we see a different kind of crisis—a father whose son was at the brink of death. This man, a nobleman, had every earthly resource, yet when faced with the possibility of losing his child, none of his status could help. So he came to Jesus, pleading for healing.
And what did Jesus say?
“Go your way; your son lives.”
No touch, no dramatic scene—just a word.
Faith begins where logic ends. The man had no proof his son was healed—only Jesus’ word. And yet, he believed and walked away.
This is the kind of faith we are called to walk in, especially in perilous times. When we face situations that seem hopeless, when the world around us is falling apart, when the news is full of fear and uncertainty—we are to believe the word that Jesus speaks.
Faith isn’t built in comfort; it’s revealed in crisis.
God never promised us a life without challenges. But He promised to be with us in the fire (Daniel 3), in the storm (Mark 4), in the valley (Psalm 23). His Word remains our anchor.
So, what do we do in these last days? We fix our eyes on Jesus. We hold fast to His Word. Like the nobleman, we take Him at His Word, even when our senses say otherwise. We respond to Jesus not with fear, but with faith. We walk away not in worry, but in worship.
Let’s not become like those described in 2 Timothy 3:5—“having a form of godliness but denying its power.” Instead, let’s be believers who walk in the power of the Word, living with confidence that what God says, He will do.
Final Encouragement
No matter what season you’re in—whether you’re facing sickness, hardship, or uncertainty—Jesus still speaks life. His Word still heals. His promises still stand.
Like the nobleman, may we believe, obey, and go our way—knowing that what Jesus says is enough.
Prayer:
Lord, in these perilous times, help me to trust You. Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight. When Your Word speaks, help me to believe. Strengthen my heart to stand firm in these last days, rooted in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, amen.
